Project investors and buyers tend to come from major clean energy developers, utilities, renewable investment funds, infrastructure funds, or independent power producers (IPPs). There are also a range of banks, debt funds and niche credit agencies using the site.

Projects tend to be submitted by either developers (most often regional or mid-market developers) or by lead financial advisors working on behalf of the project owner.

We work with projects at all stages of development. We group project development into three main stages:

• Early stage (pre-RTB)

• Shovel ready / ready to build (RTB) / notice to proceed (NTP)

• Operational / revenue generating

Small and regional developers tend to most commonly develop their projects through to RTB stage within their markets. They then use the marketplace to find buyers for these projects, or they use the ecosystem to discover acquirors and/or investors to fund and manage the construction of these projects through to commercial operations date (‘COD’) and beyond. Larger developers tend to either develop their own renewable projects from scratch and build, own, operate and then transfer them (‘BOOT’), selling them once operational. They can use the marketplace to find buyers. Alternatively, they use the ecosystem to discover, research and engage with early stage developers who have RTB projects to acquire, allowing them to rapidly scale their entry into attractive new markets.

Our minimum renewable energy project size is $3m equivalent, however the majority of projects using the service are seeking to close a transaction of between $10m-$200m. There is no upper limit to the size we can work with.
